What went down last Friday

It's a sunny Tuesday afternoon on the Main Campus of the University of First Choice and the Nation's Pride. A truck arrives the main campus park of the University of Lagos. Some competition officials alight, exchange pleasantries with the waiting  UNILAG student team and she is carefully transported from the Electrical/Electronics Engineering Lab to the truck where she is firmly and safely positioned.

It's a calm Wednesday morning, some students of UNILAG, ABU and UNIBEN wake up, prep up and show up at Campus Mini Stadium, Lagos Island. In no time, the whole Shell Ecomarathon Team Nigeria settles to the business of the day; unveiling their vehicles.

AUTONOV III is displayed, it was a wow event (Look out for more pictures here)!

Less than 50 hours after, AUTONOV III is again attracting snapshot from various angles and devices.

Hi AUTONOV III; you'll like the lawn

Man is marvellous because he has a mind; a mind that can conceptualize, confront and conquer.
So, would you say cars aren't marvellous? Hold your answer till tomorrow where AUTONOV III would be in full display at CAMPUS MINI STADIUM for the Shell Ecomarathon Team Nigeria Exhibition/Test-Drive.

We won't say cars have mind...but we can authoritatively report that AUTONOV III is in a good state and can't way to hit the green lawn tomorrow. Let's hope she likes her sisters from Abuja and Edo.

Meet the inspirational Driver 2 for AUTONOVIII

RUEBEN AKANDE was an 100-level student when he heard of the SHELL ECOMARATHON UNILAG TEAM, he had asked himself, “Is it possible really possible for Nigerian students to build a car?” Little did he know then that he was challenging himself to do just that. Today, Reuben is driver 2 for AUTONOV III and shares with us his experience so far particularly the challenge of moving from a francophone country to an English speaking country.

Philosophy - I don’t really mind the odds, what I mind are the goals.
I want to make the best of my studentship in this university. My philosophy is to focus on the goal. When you ask me to do something, I will go all the way into it. If I would mind the odds, I would be the least in the class. The language barrier that I already talked about and another was financial constraint- my parents are in Abidjan and sending money to me is like you sending money from Nigeria to a Londoner. The exchange rate puts that at a disadvantage but I don’t rest on excuses. I have to find a way.

The Orange Representation

Though the Nigerian football team didn't make it to this year's Orange African Cup of Nations, Team UNILAG is making a sharp orange representation on the 'arrowhead' body structure of AUTONOV III.
Impressed? Wait till the African Arts are expressed.
LET'S GO...
